The Globe is a pub restaurant in Glossop, Derbyshire. Keen readers will realize that this isn't actually in Greater Manchester and, therefore, The Globe doesn't fall under the remit of MVVG. However, Glossop is just a short drive from Manchester, at the end of the M67 motorway. Glossop has its own train station, half a mile is an easy walk from The Globe, with trains from Manchester. Dinting Railway Station is also a mile's walk away.
The Globe is in the heart of north Derbyshire/High Peak walking country, and is an ideal venue to end a walk.
Perhaps surprisingly, The Globe is a purely vegan restaurant, although the pub it is attached to sells the standard range of alcohol (including specialty beers), and offers milk based hot drinks as well as soy-based.
Although at one time diners ate in a room at the back of the pub, nowadays they sit in the main bar area. Like most establishments in the area, The Globe is a charming pub with some age in its walls.
Apart from being vegan, the food's other surprising feature is its price. Starters can be had for as little as £1, with mains only a few pounds more. Many diners spend their time wondering how the operation makes a profit. Most menu choices are analogues of standard pub food but, despite the price, the portion sizes are substantial and very tasty. A range of excellent deserts are offered too.
The Globe is also a live music venue.
